Thank you for maintaining the Morphew genealogy site, it was a most useful start for our research into the UK Morffew branch.

I have just completed the preliminary research on the Maufe origins, and am rather pleased with the results, as a lot more Maufe information turned up. In short, the origins are less humble than those proposed in the Patronymica Brittanica. The Maufe's held Knight's Fees and manors in Sussex and probably in Anglia as well. The name Maufe occurs on the Honour Roll of Battel Abbey, although the reliability of this roll is contested, that would suggest participation in the Battle of Hastings in 1066.

I would be more than happy to share the 15 or so pages of the Word Document on these origins with you and the visitors of your website, should you deem it worthy of inclusion. Could you send me an email adress so I can send you the document as attachment?

Dear Larry,

We hope you had a good vacation and apologies for a tardy reply are not at all necessary, as we didn't experience any sense of delay.

We have enclosed the first part of the preliminary Morffew family history which we recently sent to our immediate family members. It concerns the Maufe origins, with the first half consisting of the plain facts, and the second half of some speculative interpretation of these facts. It certainly makes history come alive a bit!
